“Balsberg is directly adjacent to the grounds of Zürich-Kloten Airport and is easy to reach by public transport. The high-quality extension of the office building now offers even more space for flexible office landscapes and modern infrastructure”, says Karl-Heinz Strauss, CEO of PORR.
Prior to adding the new storeys, Balsberg had usable space of around 61,000 m². The three additional storeys have added around 21,000 m² of valuable extra space to the building. The greatest challenges on the project included minimising construction site emissions for the current tenants and protecting the crucial computer centres in the existing building.
Attractive location
Balsberg is owned by the Priora Group. Across a total of ten floors, the commercial building now offers 82,000 m² of usable space and ample scope for individual offices, retail and storage space, shop corners and everyday services. The appeal of the business space also lies in its direct proximity to the economic hub and metropolis of Zurich, along with excellent transport links. The project’s facade was designed in such a way that the extra storeys are undetectable upon completion. The facade grid and the materialisation of the windows and balustrades were adopted from the existing building.
