“On the basis of our value engineering and detailed optimization, we have won the tender for the largest individual residential project to be awarded in Vienna in the past 15 years. We are honoured to be entrusted with this valuable contribution to sustainably shaping this new urban quarter”, said Karl-Heinz Strauss, CEO of PORR.
The project THE MARKS involves the construction of three residential towers with around 1,200 apartments in Vienna’s Landstraße district until the beginning of 2023. Alongside classic apartments, the towers will house student halls, flat-shares and serviced apartments for short-term stays. The heights of the three towers range between 105 and 126 metres.
The Q-Tower, designed by architects Rüdiger Lainer + Partner, comprises around 490 residential units. Specifically, 169 rental apartments under the 2015 Vienna home-building initiative, 228 privately financed freehold flats and 92 serviced apartments.
A desirable address
As part of the project development, the existing infrastructure in the “Neu Marx” quarter will be expanded with ample commercial and office space along with a kindergarten and a supermarket. The quarter benefits from an ideal location: close to the city and the new Vienna Central Station, with direct links to the A 23 motorway and proximity to Vienna International Airport, which is around 15km away.
The location also impresses with its attractive mix of heritage-protected buildings standing side by side with modern architecture. Marx Halle (a former cattle market) is at the centre of the quarter, serving as a venue for culture, leisure, media production and the creative industries.
