"Our latest railway construction contract is an important investment project that will bring about a sustainable improvement of the region's transport infrastructure. We are very pleased that our Polish railway construction team has scored with its expertise and that we are involved in the modernisation of the E59 railway line," said Karl-Heinz Strauss, PORR CEO.
Within 34 months, PORR S.A. will modernise the tracks of the E59 railway line in the section Krzyż - Dobiegniew (km 81 to 105), including the infrastructure. The works include the reconstruction of approximately 47 kilometres of track along railway line No. 351, the construction of twelve points, the construction of engineering structures (15 culverts, nine bridges and nine viaducts), and the modernisation of six level crossings. In addition, the contract also covers the reconstruction of an overhead line along the entire construction section and the construction of six barrier-free platforms.
This investment project with a total value of EUR 331m (PLN 1.4bn) will allow passenger trains to travel along the E59 railway line at speeds of up to 160 km/h and freight trains at speeds of up to 120 km/h from 2022. This will reduce the travel time from the capital of Greater Poland to West Pomerania by 50 minutes and will significantly improve the infrastructural framework for freight transport in West Pomerania.
