Protection against natural hazards.
From 2020 to 2022 safety measures against natural hazards were implemented on the Gotthard north ramp. In the section between Amsteg and Göschenen, the A2 motorway has been protected against rockfall and possible mudslides.
Existing rockfall protection nets were repaired and new ones put in place at 1,350m above sea level. The extensive safety measures also included the construction of new catch basins and guide dams to protect the busy traffic on the national road.
