A milestone for Doha
With a total contract value of 1.89 billion Euros, the construction of the Green Line underground line in Doha was not only the largest order in PORR’s history when it was commissioned in 2013, but also marked a new milestone for Qatar’s capital city. The project is being implemented in the form of a consortium with local partners – PORR is responsible for some 50% of the contract volume. By mid-2018, a dual-tube tunnel 16.6km in length and six underground stations are supposed to be completed.
Overall, 33.5km of tunnel with a diameter of 7.1m are drilled for the purpose and fitted with reinforced concrete segments that are produced in-house. Underground stations and other buildings make up 2.8km of the overall length. Some 30 crossings are built for this purpose. Tunnel boring could already be completed. Six tunnel boring machines were thereby simultaneously used on the construction site. The route runs above ground for 3.2km, 2.7km of which over a bridge made from pre-manufactured parts. Complex noise protection measures have been designed for this section.
