On behalf of ALDI Süd GmbH & Co. KG, THORN Abwassertechnik was responsible for the sewer rehabilitation of the ALDI branches in the Eichenau and Kleinaitingen municipalities. The work included the cleaning, inspection and leak testing of all underground pipes and shafts in the interior and exterior areas. In the case of damaged or leaking underground pipelines, appropriate rehabilitation measures were initiated.
The technologies used included pipe lining of external ground pipes, the use of sewer milling robots for the connection in the city sewer and the opening and/or pressing of branches. THORN also used the patented RATHOSAN® full filling process for the branched underground pipe system underneath the floor slabs. The shafts were rehabilitated and sewer sections replaced using the open method of construction.
What was remarkable about this project was that the rehabilitation measures were carried out while the branches were fully operational. Thanks to the discreet operations carried out by our specialists, regular customer traffic could be maintained without any disruptions.
Apart from discreet barriers and a white THORN inliner vehicle, even attentive ALDI customers were unaware of the THORN rehabilitation measures.
