Hotels
customized solutions and individual style

Hotels give travellers a temporary home – and we give them an individual face with precise, conceptual solutions. Our open and innovative approach and extensive expertise enables us to provide our clients with valuable input on every hotel project – from smart mixed-use accommodation to multi-star or boutique hotels through to serviced apartments and micro living. Always with the goal of achieving the best result possible in terms of both economics and functionality and especially regarding atmosphere and aesthetics.

We have been working closely with domestic and international architects for many years to build and revitalise hotels in our home markets. Every successful project means new experience gained – and our clients reap sustainable benefits from that long-term.

Every project bears the hallmark of our holistic approach and is overseen by us from start to finish, one deadline at a time, as general contractor or design and build provider. Put simply: PORR makes new generations of hotels happen.

Healthcare facilities
focus on functionality & wellbeing

Healthcare facilities are multifunctional places that need to do justice to many different needs: medical, economic, structural and – above all – human. Functionality is the decisive factor here: processes must run as efficiently as possible, while the set-up needs to strengthen people’s sense of wellbeing and provide emotional support.

PORR can point to multiple projects that underline its leading competency in this field and that additionally make a sustainable contribution to economic prosperity and increasing living standards in the respective region. Projects in the healthcare sector are realised in close collaboration with our subsidiary hospitals, which has far-ranging expertise in the design, development and operation of healthcare facilities. From care homes and hospitals to centres for nuclear medicine: as a design and build contractor, we are a strong and reliable partner from the planning phase right through to ongoing operations.

Revitalisation
preserving the old & shaping the new

Teaser Revitalisierung 1280x800
© PORR

As a construction company with a history going back more than 150 years, we recognise the value in buildings from the past; after all, they form part of our culture and the way we see ourselves. Preserving these values for the future while simultaneously using the space in an economically feasible way presents a huge challenge. One that calls for precision, quality awareness, creativity and craftsmanship. Our love of detail and passion for creating something new and innovative from something old and precious is what makes us stand out in this field. We not only renovate heritage-protected properties, but also revitalise cultural treasures and carry out concrete repairs.

Intelligent revitalisation can lead places to rediscover their identity. Respect for history and for every phase of a building’s lifecycle is the priority here. PORR approaches these projects with the view that there is something worth preserving. But that they are also a chance to create something new. When renovating heritage-protected properties or revitalising cultural treasures, there is a wide range of approaches and designs – from barely visible to a completely new image, from energy-efficient facades through to revitalising existing building complexes. It is projects like this that prove that an optimised environmental footprint and maintaining a building’s substance can actually go hand in hand. In line with our motto: Building for a climate-neutral future.

Industrial construction
meeting the sector’s highest requirements

Teaser Industrie 1280x800

Industrial construction is a question of trust. Here precise knowledge of all of the industry’s requirements is just as essential as specialist insight into complex work processes or specific business fields. Projects often take on mammoth dimensions, demanding the maximum in terms of concept, execution and logistics.

Our range of services includes the construction of highly sensitive and technically demanding clean and ultra-clean rooms for the semiconductor industry through to mobile communications facilities and special. The fact that multiple industrial construction clients have been coming back to us for years is a sign of trust: our clients appreciate the knowhow of our team and the quality of our personal support – in planning, building technology and services as well as turnkey construction.

Educational institutions
the right backdrop for education and training

Teaser Bildung 1280x800

Whether it’s a school, kindergarten or university: buildings for training and education rightly demand more than just a functional space. They not only leave a mark on their environment, they also have a huge impact on the development of the youngsters that are studying here for their futures.

That’s why we see it as a huge responsibility – and a nice challenge – to create buildings that have an equally positive influence on the cityscape and on people, whether the facilities are educational or administrative.

Every investment in education is an investment in a future worth living in. This also holds true for our projects in educational construction. With both new builds and renovations, the focus is on optimising the lifecycle and developing sustainable standards. Here the shift facilitated by digitalisation is a constant companion. As a trailblazer in digital infrastructure, we apply integrated planning to every project phase with the highest possible quality.

Shopping centres
economic viability, logistics & customer experience as key aspects

Teaser Einkaufszentren 1280x800

Whether it’s a shopping centre or department store: these projects are characterised by their high demands in terms of economic viability, design, space planning and logistics. Every one of these points requires a solution that can only be provided by a specialist with vast experience, like PORR.

Shopping has become a pleasurable pastime and this means that goods must be presented to appeal to all of our senses. Today’s customers have ever greater expectations of the range and set-up of the retail space.

Shopping centres oftentimes succeed with additional recreational facilities and culinary hotspots, which have to be considered already in the initial planning phase. Shops in inner-city locations have to blend in with the existing ensemble and often need to reconcile the fabric of a historic building with contemporary logistics.

Stadium construction
breathtaking backdrops for sporting excellence

Teaser Stadien 1280x800

Football has been captivating people for more than 150 years. And we give it the space to do so. For EURO 2008, PORR was responsible for extensive new construction and upgrades at the stadiums in Klagenfurt, Wals-Siezenheim and Innsbruck.

Special requirements for dismantling meant that the decisive factors were flexible planning and precisely calculated time-plans. For the World Cup in Qatar 2022, we are the design-build contractor for the Al-Janoub stadium in Al-Wakrah, which we are building in an international consortium. Infrastructure measures related to the stadium such as parking, eateries or TV studios can also be handled by PORR as a full-service provider.

BIM and LEAN
open up new opportunities

Digital tools open up new possibilities in building construction. At PORR, we rely on trust and reliability in our relationships with clients and subcontractors. The use of digital tools makes it possible to track the development of a building in real time. The application of LEAN management and BIM (Building Information Modelling) as early as the planning phase opens up new possibilities for cooperation between clients and contractors.

To build a better world

Sustainable building
for generations

Not just in the construction phase, the issue of sustainability is also prioritised when designing spaces to live and work. Proximity to nature and access to recreational areas are key factors for end clients when making their choice. This is why, roofs, facades and mezzanines are increasingly being greened on new builds in order to improve the building’s climate and quality of life. A clear trend has also emerged in the popularity of public transport or electric vehicles, which means that part of the areas normally used as driveways etc. can be repurposed completely and help to satisfy the desire for outdoor spaces.
