For more than 50 years, we have been realising projects in aluminium-glass construction throughout Europe in the field of building envelopes. With Slab Track Austria we offer a unique state-of-the-art technology in high demand internationally for high-performance and high-speed lines. Jointly developed by PORR and ÖBB, the modular and very adaptable Slab Track Austria system meets the highest requirements of pioneering railway construction and will facilitate the rail traffic of the future. Rail passengers in Europe, Asia and Australia already enjoy the ultimate level of travel comfort.

Continuous system optimisation and cutting-edge innovation: This is what PORR stands for. We are constantly developing and creating new solutions in order to meet the changing requirements of our customers. For example, we have implemented plan speeds of 400 km/h as well as integrated noise and vibration reduction solutions, derailment protection and navigability for emergency vehicles in our Slab Track Austria technology.

In high Alpine construction, PORR operates in extreme terrain, at great heights, and under highly changeable climatic conditions – and usually far away from resources such as concrete plants and material depots. From realising ropeways, reservoirs, ski jumps, high mountain roads and snowmaking systems, to the construction of ski slopes or complex engineering structures high up in the mountains – PORR meets all these challenges and masters projects in the alpine landscape with its many years of experience. In doing so, we rely on state-of-the-art logistics solutions.

Extreme construction plots require specific expertise, environmental knowhow when working in protected zones, and good local knowledge, which is fully covered by our on-the-ground presence, highly trained staff and years of expertise. Furthermore, successful project realisation requires the rapidly changing meteorological conditions to be taken into account in high Alpine construction. PORR relies on its own weather app, which provides reliable, hourly information to the construction site, thereby warning of any sudden weather events in a timely manner.

Our subsidiary pde Integrale Planung GmbH offers comprehensive and customised support for your timber construction project. From the initial idea through to realisation, we are at your side with our extensive expertise in structural planning, project coordination, tender management, conceptual design and technical advice.

With Public Private Partnerships (PPP), the public sector identifies its needs and the private sector delivers an optimised solution. The services provided by the private partner include development, financing, design, build, operation and maintenance over a period of usually 20 to 30 years. PORR succeeds in PPPs thanks to its expertise covering the entire life cycle of a project. Our many years of international experience make us the ideal partner and we offer customised solutions.

Different models of cooperation between public institutions and private project partners involve different divisions of responsibilities and project steps. Concession models give the public sector the advantage that the services are the responsibility of one partner – the concession holder – who also assumes the risks related to realisation and operation. This also ensures that any infrastructure built in this way can be used by the public without restrictions for decades to come.

In strategic project development, on the other hand, PORR shares its many years of experience in the areas of construction and project development with the public sector, thereby creating an opportunity to develop new plans, concepts and strategies and open up new project fields. In the case of shareholdings and asset management of operating (project) companies, PORR takes on the ongoing management of public properties. As with concession models, we follow a lifecycle approach and exploit long-term optimisation potential.

Property management is part of an integrated and sustainable building management approach for the purpose of maintaining value throughout the entire life cycle. As a full-service provider, PORR is capable of providing important input for the longest phase of a property – its operation – already during the design and build phases. With regard to the development and construction of a property, this means that all the necessary measures can be taken for efficient management in a very early phase. 

When PORR looks after a building from the design stage through to property management, advantages are yielded in terms of proximity to the builder when it comes to any refurbishments and conversion measures. One of our most important core competencies is steel bridge construction. We also have extensive knowhow and many years of experience in structural steel engineering. A further focus is movable steel and bridge construction with special reference to mechanical engineering equipment. M&E for moving heavy masses includes mechanical engineering, hydraulics and electrics. Our experts make your project a success by applying forward-looking solutions and state-of-the-art technologies. Certification such as EN 1090-1 and EN ISO 3834-2 allow us to build steel structures and steel bridges in the EEA with a valid CE mark.
